And One

What does And One Mean?

The free throw granted to an offensive player after being fouled in the course of making a successful field goal.

Sporting Charts explains And One

The most traditional form of the "And One" occurs when an offensive player is closest to the basket (usually while making a layup). As long as the basket was made or continuation was called, the player is then entitled to a single free throw in addition to the points scored by the basket. Also referred to as a "Three Point Play."
