A type of block in which a defensive player chases an offensive player on a breakaway to block his attempted dunk or layup.

Sporting Charts explains Chase-Down Block

The chase-down block became a signature defensive move of Miami forward LeBron James. While he was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2009, the team started tracking down the number of chase-down blocks he had accomplished, making it an unofficial NBA statistic. He recorded 23 of them during that season.
