What does Screen Mean?
An offensive maneuver in which a player without the ball frees up a teammate by blocking the path of a defender by standing beside or behind him. It is also known as a "pick".
Sporting Charts explains Screen
A screener has to establish his position before a teammate can move towards him. If the screener is moving while a screen is being applied, the screener will be called for an "illegal screen", which is a type of offensive foul.
