A blocking scheme that pits two players versus one player in pass protecting, run blocking, and receiver coverage.

Double-team situations are most often used against explosive star offensive and defensive players. Defensive ends like Julius Peppers and Terrell Suggs are commonly double-teamed because of their pass rush ability. On the other side of the ball, top wide receivers typically command double coverage, making it more difficult to get open for a pass.
