Down and In

What does Down and In Mean?

A pass route that begins with a 10-15 yard sprint upfield and ends with a 90-degree cut towards the center of the field.

Sporting Charts explains Down and In

This route mimics the '"down and out", with the only difference being the direction of the break. A staple route of the West Coast offense, most quarterbacks easily complete this throw due to it being placed in the middle of the field with the receiver breaking his route back towards the line of scrimmage.
