What does Draft Choice Mean?

The rank and position associated to an amateur football player who is taken by a franchise in the annual NFL Draft. The order is dependent on the team's record at the end of the regular season as well as performance in the playoffs.

Sporting Charts explains Draft Choice

In the 2005 NFL draft, California quarterback Aaron Rodgers expected to be drafted number one or number two in the first round. Things did not pan out for Rodgers that day, as Utah quarterback Alex Smith was taken number one overall by the San Francisco 49ers. Rodgers plummeted to pick number 24, where the Green Bay Packers made him their most recent draft choice gem.
