What does First and Ten Mean?
This is a situation in which an offense has the ball on first down, with 10 yards to go for a new set of downs.

You can get into this situation by moving the ball past the first down marker, giving you a new set of downs. You can also be in a 1st and 10 situation any time the ball changes possession, or a team turns the ball over.
