What does Touchdown Mean?

Getting the football across the opposing team's goal line and into the endzone, resulting in six points for each successful attempt. Teams must kick off to the other team after scoring a touchdown.

A touchdown can occur on the ground or in the air, depending on if it is ran in by a running back or quarterback. Receivers can also catch a pass in the endzone for a touchdown. In order to score a touchdown the football only has to cross the plane of the goal line. It is not necessary for it to actually cross all the way into the endzone. If there is a question about whether the ball actually broke the plane slow motion cameras view the play from different angles to make the final call.
