What does Goalie or Goaltender Mean?
The player standing directly in front of the goal net and whose
job it is to prevent the puck from crossing the goal line.
Goaltender's wear specialized equipment designed to protect them
from frequent and hard shots from opposing players. The main
pieces include goal pads, blocker, catcher, chest protector, goalie
helmet, and a wide stick.
The goalie is usually positioned in the goal crease, a marked area
directly in front of the goal.
