A scoring situation that occurs when a player scores a goal, an assist and gets into a fight all within one game. It is named in honor of forward Gordie Howe who was famous for his ability to both score and fight during his Hall of Fame career.
The Gordie Howe Hat Trick didn't come into usage until after Mr. Hockey retired and wasn't tracked during his career. Interestingly enough, Gordie is thought to have only ever achieved one or two Gordie Howe Hat Trick during his career.
Tracking of the Gordie Howe Hat Trick didn't come into effect until the 96-97 NHL Season. Since tracking begain, one of the most prolific Gordie Howe Hat Trick "scorers" was Brendan Shanahan who had a total of 17 over his career.
