NBA Daily Fantasy Value and Projection Guide - February 1, 2015

It is a small slate in the association today as the sporting world focuses in on the Super Bowl, which pits the Seattle Seahawks vs. the New England Patriots. Here is a breakdown of the players to focus in on for your daily fantasy lineups for the NBA.

Miami Heat @ Boston Celtics

Hassan Whiteside (DK: $8.1k | FD: $6.2k)

What’s up FanDuel? Why are you not raising his price yet? So Whiteside is a lock on FD obviously and he’s likely still a lock for DK. On such a terrible slate you want this guy – the most upside on the day lies right here.

Tayshaun Prince (DK: $3.9k | FD: $3.9k)

It’s going to be difficult to find low ownership but Prince’s should be fairly low. He’s going to get 20-25 minutes so I like him for the same amount of FP. I’ll take 6-8x all day long.

Marcus Thornton (DK: $3.6k | FD: $3.6k)

With Wade out he gets a good matchup. He’s going to shoot quite a bit coming off of the bench.

Mario Chalmers (DK: $5.8k | FD: $5.4k)

Not a good matchup but his usage is up. I think quite a few people look elsewhere for value. Yes, even on this short slate, his last game could scare some people off. I still like him for 25-30 FP.

Los Angeles Lakers @ New York Knicks

Carmelo Anthony (DK: $9.4k | FD: $9.4k)

Next to Whiteside, this is the highest upside you’re going to find. It’s hard to get a better matchup. As it stands right now he’s going to play. I think he’s a lock considering the other options at SF tonight, especially if Deng is out.

Jordan Hill (DK: $6.6k | FD: $6.1k)

DraftKings has gotten a bit silly with the price increases. Once 50+ and Hill goes up $1500 after hitting under 5x in 3 consecutive games? Yeah, that’s cool. Tournaments only guys. He could pull down 10-15 boards.

Wayne Ellington (DK: $5.7k | FD: $5.2k)

I think he’s a lock at SG here. I will likely throw him into every lineup, any format. It’s a great matchup. I think he gets 28+ minutes which means 14+ FGA. I really think his floor is right around 28 FP with 40 FP upside. That’s not something you want to pass up.

Langston Galloway (DK: $5.5k | FD: $5.3k)

You can’t really worry about his flop on such a short slate. Just look at what Augustin pulled out after his terrible performance. Wonderful matchup, 35+ minutes and 10+ FGA even with Melo out there. You need some exposure to him today.

Jason Smith (DK: $4.9k | FD: $4.7k)

One of my favorite tournament plays of the next alongside Ellington. He’s hit 5x+ in 5 of his last 6 games. He’s getting 30 minutes on the court and the Lakers are very inefficient in shooting the ball. So that means rebounds, put backs and easy post scores against guys like Boozer.

Today could easily be a day where you fade NBA DFS. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the Super Bowl. If you’re like me, however, you’re far too addicted to even consider that. The slate isn’t pretty. If you want a tournament win you’re going to need to go against the grain. Find 3-4 guys that you want 100% exposure to and stick to them. Then sprinkle a little bit of everyone else in there.

Good luck out there everyone! You can follow me on Twitter @Steven_Royalty_ if you have a question you need answered or just want to talk DFS.
