According to Toomer: Eli Manning vs Tony Romo

Last month former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer commented that Dallas Cowboys' Tony Romo is a better quarterback than his former teammate and NFL East rival Eli Manning.

Romo's first full season as a starter was 2006, so we decided to compare both quarterbacks from a statistical standpoint and see if there was any truth to Toomer's comments.

Winner: Tony Romo

Quarterback rating does have it's drawbacks, so let's compare their pure ability to complete passes.

Winner: Tony Romo

The final stat we'll compare is average passing yards per game.

Winner: Tony Romo

Eli certainly won the 2011 season for average pass yards per game, but Romo has been much more consistent over his career.

Ultimately both are very good quarterbacks, but statistically speaking Tony Romo has been better over the past 6 seasons, backing up what Toomer said.  The one caveat to all of this is that Romo plays at least 8 games per season in a dome, while Eli more often must brave the elements of mother nature.

But all of that said, at the end of the day Eli is a two-time Super Bowl champ, and for that his former teammate Amani Toomer should be grateful.
