Sporting Charts explains Go-ahead Run

Often in baseball, the term "go-ahead run" is usually applied to a batter or a runner, who signifies the run needed by the offensive team to take the lead in a game. In a close game (one separated by four runs or fewer), radio or television announcers will usually identify which batter or runner represents the go-ahead run to increase the drama or tension for the audience.

The go-ahead run that determines victory for the scoring team is often referred to as the "game-winning run", as it was the run required for the scoring team to achieve the win, even if they score more runs later in the game.
