Twin Towers

What is Twin Towers?

A term referring to two center-sized players-typically 7'0" or above-who usually play together as the team's power forward and center.

Sporting Charts explains Twin Towers

Twin towers are tremendous match-up problems, especially inside the paint, because most teams customarily do not have one all-star seven-footer in their roster, let alone two. Teams sometimes combat teams with twin towers by going small, beating them instead with speed and outside shooting.

Some of the best twin towers to have played in the NBA include David Robinson and Tim Duncan, Ralph Sampson and Hakeem Olajuwon, Bill Cartwright and Patrick Ewing, Shaquille O'Neal and Elden Campbell, and Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol.
