This is a trick play which involves the quarterback and an offensive lineman or tight end. Once the ball is snapped the quarterback leaves the ball on the ground and acts as if he is dropping back for a pass. The offensive lineman then pulls around and picks up the ball with no one suspecting they have it.
The 1984 Orange Bowl between the Miami Hurricanes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers showed us a great use of this play. While the Cornhuskers were down 17 - 0 to Miami, they called the play which converted into a touchdown. Miami still held on to win and upset #1 Nebraska 31 - 30.
