Sporting Charts explains Passing Game

An effective passing game will advance the ball regularly using passes from the quarterback to his receivers. A passing game is often more of a risk than a running game because of the possibility that the defense could intercept the pass or sack the quarterback. The offensive line will attempt to protect the quarterback by creating a pocket of blocking around him to give him time to deliver an effective pass.
