What is Turnbuckle?

The padded edge where the glass partition of the boards meets team benches at a right angle.

Sporting Charts explains Turnbuckle

While initially designed to increase safety by offering padding where the glass partition ends and the open area of player benches, the turnbuckle has become a growing controversial portion of ice hockey rinks. This area has become a troublesome spot due to increasingly dangerous body checks of players into the partition. Some suggest that the turnbuckle is more dangerous because of the right angle created by the boundary-possible solutions that have been offered involve changing the partition so that it connects at a 45-degree angle or is curved instead.
