A game winning RBI is no longer an official major league statistic but is one that some fans still like to use. A game winning RBI is awarded when a player obtains an RBI for a run scored that proved to be the difference in a game (for example – in a game won by the score of 5-3 a game winning RBI would be awarded to the player who drove in the fourth run of the game for their team – if an RBI was earned). Game winning RBI percentage then takes all game winning RBIs and dividing them by the number of total RBIs for a player on the season.
