More about Runs Batted In - RBI Leaders
Player runs batted in (RBI) leaders lead the league in the number of runs their team scored as a direct result of their at bat. Most RBIs are earned via the hit, though there are a variety of ways to obtain an RBI, including a walk, hits batsman, fielder’s choice, sacrifice fly, and even more. Runs batted in are generally thought of to be a “traditional” statistic that is often valued less by modern statistical analyses than in the past. Those leading the league in RBIs are not doing so because of a fluke; however it is a statistic that is very context-dependent, meaning a player must come to bat with runners on pace frequently in order to be among the league leaders in RBIs.
