More about Team Batting Average of Balls in Play - BABIP

When an entire team posts a high BABIP, it generally means the team is made up of players who both hit the ball hard (resulting in more hits) and have a high propensity for hitting line drives (which are more likely to result in hits).  While individual players who post high BABIPs may be considered somewhat lucky over the course of a given season, it is difficult for an entire team to post a high BABIP on luck alone.
