Batting Average By Team: 2015 MLB Season

Team Batting Average is simply the percentage of team at bats (not plate appearances) that ended with a hit.  While batting average is one of the oldest and most commonly cited statistics when measuring a team’s (or individual’s) offensive proclivity, it is also one of the most overused.

More about Batting Average By Team

There are a variety of other statistics, such as on base percentage and OPS (on base plus slugging) that have been shown to more closely align with a team’s overall ability to score runs.  That being said, the better offensive teams are more likely to be at the top of this list, though they’re just as likely to also have a higher on base percentage and/or OPS.
