This is the number of double plays that a team turns on defense over the course of the season. Teams that rank near the top of team double plays are likely to have an above average infield defense, particularly at the second base and shortstop positions (since at least one of these players are involved in nearly every double play that is turned).
More about Team Double Plays Per Game
To rank near the top of this list it is helpful to have infielders with above average range, strong arms, and a first baseman that is known for picking low throws out of the dirt. Teams that rank near the bottom of this list may have an infield defense that is collectively subpar, but they also may have a pitching staff that is more prone to striking out batters or allowing fly balls than they are to give up ground balls.
