Team hits allowed per game is merely the total number of hits a team's pitching staff gives up over the course of the year divided by the number of games they play.
More about Team Hits Allowed Per Game
This is only a pitching statistic and does not take into account a team’s offensive performance. While there are many other factors that go into a team’s overall success, such as walks allowed, performance with runners on base, and others, looking at team hits allowed per game is a quick and dirty way of measuring a team’s pitching effectiveness, though more robust measures do exist. This can also be affected by a team’s defense – if the defense is subpar the team is likely giving up more hits on batted balls than the average team.
