Team stolen bases allowed per game is the number of stolen bases the average pitching staff allows for every team game pitched.
More about Team Stolen Bases Allowed Per Game
This is not a particularly helpful statistic for looking at the best pitching staffs throughout baseball, as stolen bases have been generally down throughout baseball for a number of years. Additionally, teams with high strikeout totals, a much better measure of a pitching staff’s quality, can lead to more stolen bases as power pitchers take longer for their delivery to be completed, thus allowing baserunners fractions of seconds longer to safely steal a base. Furthermore, a team’s catcher can have as much of an impact on controlling an opposing team’s running game (good or bad) as a team’s crop of pitchers.
