Player Receiving Fumbles and Fumbles Lost: 2016 NFL Season

Receiving Fumbles and Fumbles Lost represent 1) how many fumbles a player made on offensive after successfully making a reception, and 2) how many of those fumbles were recovered by the other team.  Receiving fumbles are one of the most uncommon turnovers (it’s slightly more common for a running back or quarterback to fumble on a run or scramble, or for a quarterback to throw an interception).  Slightly more than half of all receiving fumbles are recovered by the opposing team – in most cases if a receiving fumble does not result in a turnover it is because the receiver who fumbled recovered it himself or it went out of bounds before anyone could recover it.
