Player Total Rushing Yards Statistics: 2016 NFL Season

Player Rushing Yards are the total amount of rushing yards accumulated over the course of a season.  Most starting running backs who play an entire season (or even if they miss a couple of games) are expected to accumulate at least 1,000 yards, which works out to a relatively unimpressive 63 yards per game over a 16 game season.  Players who reach 1,500 yards in a season, or just under 100 yards per game, will be among league leaders. 2,000 yards in a season is considered something of a holy grail for running backs, a feat that has only been accomplished seven times in football history (most recently by Adrian Peterson in 2012).
